Sun Announces High Availability for Lotus Domino on Solaris

LOTUSPHERE, Orlando, Fla. -- January 27, 1997 -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced that it is working with Lotus Development Corp. to provide high availability for Lotus(R) Domino(tm) on Sun's Solaris(tm) environment. Integrating the popular Lotus Domino with Sun's high availability technologies for mission-critical network computing will allow users to maximize uptime and productivity for intranets and the Internet.

Sun has worked with Lotus to initially develop support for Sun's currently shipping high availability product. This enables automated failover of Lotus Domino using Solstice(tm) management software which minimizes expensive network server downtime.

At Lotusphere '97, Lotus' fourth annual worldwide technical and business conference, Sun will be featuring a demo of Lotus Domino 4.5 running on dual Sun Ultra(tm) servers with Solstice HA 1.2 and HA start/stop scripts.The scripts for Lotus Domino 4.5 will be downloadable free of charge from the Solstice Web page (http://www.sun.com/solstice/) in calendar Q1, 1997.

"Our customers will be able to maximize the availability and productivity of Lotus Domino, especially appropriate for mission-critical systems."

Additional HA development including integration with Solstice HA 1.3 and 2.0 releases is planned during the second half of 1997.
